Banana fertiliser programme

Banana

The heaviest potassium feeder you will grow — and the crop most exposed to Fusarium wilt. Both need answering.

The crop

What banana asks of your soil.

Banana has the highest potassium requirement of the major tropical crops, and it runs through a full cycle in nine to twelve months. Demand is intense and compressed, with very little margin for a slow-responding soil.

It is also the crop most seriously threatened by Fusarium wilt. Once a plant is infected there is no cure, which makes prevention, drainage and soil health the entire strategy rather than one part of it.

🇲🇾 Ringkasan Bahasa Melayu

The challenges

Three things that cost Pisang growers yield.

01

Fusarium wilt

Fusarium oxysporum produces resting spores that survive in soil for years without a host and spreads through planting material, soil on machinery and drainage water.

02

Compressed nutrient demand

A short cycle with very high potassium demand means the soil must deliver quickly. Poor structure or low biology shows up as small bunches within a single cycle.

03

Waterlogging

Banana roots are intolerant of standing water, and waterlogged soil sharply increases infection risk for the pathogens that matter most here.

The programme

What we recommend for Pisang.

NEXGROW
Foundation

Builds biologically active, well-structured soil and less stressed plants — support for good crop hygiene and drainage, not a disease treatment.

Questions

Pisang growers often ask.

Which fertiliser is best for banana in Malaysia?+
For banana (Pisang), we recommend NEXGROW bio-organic fertiliser alongside your existing programme. It carries over 50% organic matter, more than 20% humic and fulvic acid, and phosphate-solubilising bacteria above 10⁷ CFU per gram — processed aerobically in adherence to Malaysian Standard MS 1517:2012. It is designed to improve the efficiency of the nutrients you already apply rather than replace balanced nutrition.
How often should NEXGROW be applied to banana?+
The published NEXGROW Bio-Organic guidance is: Mixed during soil preparation, before planting: 500 g / m²; 3 months after planting: 1–3 kg / tree. The source does not give an additional application schedule for other stages. Ask our agronomy team about your soil and crop before adding applications.
Can I use it with my existing fertiliser programme?+
Yes. NEXGROW is designed to integrate with existing practices. Most growers begin with a trial block, keeping their normal programme running and adding NEXGROW alongside it, then compare results over a season before adjusting the balance.
