Papaya fertiliser programme

Papaya

Flowering and fruiting at the same time, continuously. Plus a virus spread by aphids.

The crop

What papaya asks of your soil.

Papaya carries flowers and fruit at every stage of maturity simultaneously, which means nutrient demand never steps down. Nitrogen and potassium requirements are high and constant through the productive life of the plant.

The defining risk is papaya ringspot virus, which is spread by aphids. There is no treatment for an infected plant, so vector management is one of the few levers that actually changes the outcome.

🇲🇾 Ringkasan Bahasa Melayu

The challenges

Three things that cost Betik growers yield.

01

Non-stop demand

Simultaneous flowering and fruiting means there is no low-demand phase in which the soil can recover.

02

Ringspot virus

Spread by aphids, with no cure for infected plants. Controlling the vector population is the practical line of defence.

03

Root rot in wet soil

Papaya roots decline quickly in waterlogged conditions, and root rot losses often follow a single prolonged wet period.

The programme

What we recommend for Betik.

Built to work alongside your existing fertiliser programme, not replace it outright.

NEXGROW
Foundation

Continuous, buffered nutrient supply from organic matter and humic acids, plus improved structure and drainage in a root system that is intolerant of waterlogging.

Questions

Betik growers often ask.

Which fertiliser is best for papaya in Malaysia?+
For papaya (Betik), we recommend NEXGROW bio-organic fertiliser alongside your existing programme. It carries over 50% organic matter, more than 20% humic and fulvic acid, and phosphate-solubilising bacteria above 10⁷ CFU per gram — processed aerobically in adherence to Malaysian Standard MS 1517:2012. It is designed to improve the efficiency of the nutrients you already apply rather than replace balanced nutrition.
How often should NEXGROW be applied to papaya?+
The published NEXGROW Bio-Organic guidance is: Mixed during soil preparation, before planting: 250 g / m²; 2-month-old tree: 100 g / tree / year; 3-month-old tree: 150 g / tree / year; 4-month-old tree: 300 g / tree / year; 5-month-old tree: 500 g / tree / year; Older than 5 months: 1 kg / tree / year. The source does not give an additional application schedule for other stages. Ask our agronomy team about your soil and crop before adding applications.
Can I use it with my existing fertiliser programme?+
Yes. NEXGROW is designed to integrate with existing practices. Most growers begin with a trial block, keeping their normal programme running and adding NEXGROW alongside it, then compare results over a season before adjusting the balance.
