Paddy rice fertiliser programme

Rice

Flooded soil plays by different chemical rules. A programme built for dryland crops will not behave the same way in a wet field.

The crop

What rice asks of your soil.

Paddy is grown under conditions almost no other crop experiences. Continuous flooding drives oxygen out of the soil and changes the chemistry of phosphorus, iron and several micronutrients along with it. Nutrient availability in a flooded field is genuinely different from the same soil drained.

Demand is also uneven across the season. Nitrogen matters most through tillering and again at panicle initiation; phosphorus drives early root establishment; potassium supports grain filling and helps the crop resist lodging late on.

🇲🇾 Ringkasan Bahasa Melayu

Rice crop
The challenges

Three things that cost Padi growers yield.

01

Organic matter depletion

Double and triple cropping with heavy chemical inputs steadily strips organic matter from paddy soils, reducing buffering capacity and biological activity season after season.

02

Nutrient loss to water

In a flooded field, a large share of applied nutrient can move into the water column rather than the plant — efficiency, not quantity, is usually the real constraint.

03

Soil-borne disease pressure

Warm, waterlogged soil favours pathogens such as Rhizoctonia and Sclerotium, which attack at the base of the plant where conditions are wettest.

The programme

What we recommend for Padi.

Built to work alongside your existing fertiliser programme, not replace it outright.

NEXGROW
Foundation

Over 50% organic matter plus humic and fulvic acids raise nutrient-holding capacity in a system that loses nutrients easily, while phosphate-solubilising bacteria free up phosphorus bound under low-oxygen conditions.

Questions

Padi growers often ask.

Which fertiliser is best for rice in Malaysia?+
For rice (Padi), we recommend NEXGROW bio-organic fertiliser alongside your existing programme. It carries over 50% organic matter, more than 20% humic and fulvic acid, and phosphate-solubilising bacteria above 10⁷ CFU per gram — processed aerobically in adherence to Malaysian Standard MS 1517:2012. It is designed to improve the efficiency of the nutrients you already apply rather than replace balanced nutrition.
How often should NEXGROW be applied to rice?+
The published NEXGROW Bio-Organic guidance is: Above 20: 400 kg / ha; 10 to 20: 1–2 t / ha; Below 10: 3–5 t / ha. The source does not give an additional application schedule for other stages. Ask our agronomy team about your soil and crop before adding applications.
Can I use it with my existing fertiliser programme?+
Yes. NEXGROW is designed to integrate with existing practices. Most growers begin with a trial block, keeping their normal programme running and adding NEXGROW alongside it, then compare results over a season before adjusting the balance.
